Krátky opis

Projekt je zameraný na realizáciu samostatnej výstavy Patrície Šichmanovej v Galérií S12 v Bergene, Nórsko. Vystavené práce budú nadväzovať na moju doterajšiu tvorbu so zameraním na objekty zo skla, s použitím techník ztavovanie frity a taveného skla. Na výstave budú zahrnuté práce s témou bleskou, vody a tekutosti. Výstava sa bude konať v nových priestoroch galérie S12 v centre Bergenu. Táto galéria je špeciálne zameraná na sklárske umenie a podporu experimentálnych prístupov ku sklu.

During August 2019 Patrícia Šichmanová will show works, laser cut structures and sketches all made during the period of 2017 - 2019. The works on view in the Project Room are shown in Norway for the first time, and give a good idea of Patricia’s career from the time of her graduation till today. This is the second time she exhibits in S12. 

Patrícia Šichmanová grew up in Bratislava, Slovakia, where she completed her MFA at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in 2017. She spent her formal education exploring the possibilities of glass, as well as studying working in metal at the University of South – Eastern Norway, Rauland Campus, and glass and ceramic design at Häme University of Applied Sciences, in Finland. Patrícia draws much of her inspiration from nature, and the Nordic landscape has made a strong impact on her and consequently on her work. 

In 2016/2017 she participated in an internship at S12 Galleri og Verksted, in Bergen, Norway where she created her master project and is currently working. Her master project won her the third prize in the 2017 international competition, Stanislav Libensky Award, Prague.  Her works have been, and continue to be, exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in Europe. 

Patrícia works primarily in glass but isn’t limited to it. When appropriate she uses other materials as a juxtaposition to the fluidity and transparency of glass. Through kilnforming processes, especially non-traditional applications of the Pate de verre technique, she is able to create washes of colour, layers of translucency and textural variations that serve to paint a picture of light, colour and form.

‘’Everything is constantly moving and flowing, overlapping and overflowing, washing and dispersing, concentrating and diluting. I freeze these moments into tangible objects and installations. I am able to immerse myself in the captured moment and distil the essence of it into form, colour, and motion. Storms, lightning, water, rain, waves become the rhythms and patterns that run through my body of work and flow into the glass through heat and process. Through its transparency, translucency, plasticity, and ephemerality glass becomes the means of transmitting the memory of these phenomena that are otherwise fluid and immaterial.  

The Norwegian landscape, its large lakes, the stark unmoving cliffs that mold the fjords, and the rainy days that wash over Bergen making walks on the coast a palette of blues and greys inspire the colours and patterns in my work.’’
